Urlaub, Tag 3 + 4
Also eigentlich hatte ich ja ganz andere Schrauberpläne für meinen Urlaub, aber es kommt ja immer anders. Also habe ich mich nun mit der irren Idee beschäftigt die Innenradhausbleche selbst instandzusetzen. Ich hasse mich ja jetzt schon dafür... Dafür sind immerhin bisher schon fast zwei Schraubertage drauf gegangen.

Vacation, Day 3 + 4
Well, actually I had totally different plans for my wrenching week, but as always, situations change. So I dealt with the lunatic idea of fabricating the repair sheets for the inner wheel house myself. I do hate myself already for this... After all I already spent about two days wrenching for this.

Zuerst ging es darum die Doppelbleche voneinander zu trennen. VW hat damals anscheinend viel Wert darauf gelegt, dass dies eigentlich nicht passiert. Nur so können sich die 100.000 Schweißpunkte erklären. // First, I had to seperate the two sheets which were welded together. VW obviously took good care that this should never happen. This is the only explanation I have for thos 100.000 welding spots.
Erfolgreich getrennt! // successfully seperated!
Wieder ordentlich verschweißt // Properly rewelded
... und grundiert // ... and primered

Nun ging es darum das neue zweite Blech anzufertigen. Dazu ersteinmal eine Schablone // Now, it was the time to fabricate the new second metal. Hence, I made a template first
Nun, sieht doch ganz gut aus // Well, looks pretty nice though
Nun muss der Spaß nur noch ordentlich eingebaut werden - das aber nach Ostern. // Now, this stuff needs to go into the car - but that's a job for after easter

Und nebenbei habe ich die zweite Endspitze noch (so gut wie) fertiggestellt // Additionally, the second rear apron is (as good as) finalized.
